Lacuna Coil

Dark Adrenaline

Metal

* * *

"Give me something more," begs Lacuna Coil's Cristina Scabbia. Fans of the Italian goth-metal sextet won't feel anywhere near as unsatisfied by their strong sixth album. Distinguished by the intertwined vocal flights of Scabbia and male singer Andrea Ferro, these darkly dramatic arias have enough majesty to fill an arena -- along with enough craggy riffage to keep the pit alive. Imperial Teen

Feel the Sound

Indie-Pop

* * * 1/2

You can't stay young forever. But you can grow up gracefully. Imperial Teen can, anyway. After five albums in 16 years, these San Francisco indie-popsters fronted by Faith No More's Roddy Bottum have mastered the winning formula: Fuse hooky '80s-style new-wave pop and dreamy boy-girl harmonies with intelligent lyrics written from a grownup perspective. One for the big kids. Download: Runaway; Last to Know

The Fray

Scars & Stories

Pop-Rock

* * 1/2

We all have our jobs in this life. Apparently The Fray's job is to produce songs that play over the closing montages of network TV dramas. The Denver quartet's expertly crafted but soulless third CD, much like its predecessors, switches between midtempo piano-pop anthems and overwrought, orchestrated power ballads -- all delivered with yearning and sincerity. Pass the remote.
